Personality:
HONEST AND EARNEST — Dimitri is earnest in all he says and does. He approaches every problem, every interaction, head-on and without any sense of duplicity. This paints him as unnecessarily blunt at times, but there is never any doubt where his intentions may lie. Even in the Academy phase of canon, where he is not overt or obvious about his troubled mind, he makes no attempt to hide this part of him to the few who are aware of it. He is well-spoken and articulate, as well as highly reliable. There is a polite seriousness to his honesty that can portray him as too solemn or even too serious to some, though he makes a sincere attempt to be affable with those he’s grown friendly with.

IDEALISTIC AND QUIXOTIC — Dimitri adheres to a strict moral compass of right and wrong. He is aware of the grays that lie in-between the two, as any man entrenched in war should, but he greatly despises circumstances which allow for this moral ambiguity to exist. If given the opportunity, he will always choose the most idealistic path even if it is detrimental to himself, or not wholly practical. It’s his default to aim for the “best" solution to any given problem, especially if means protecting those who are unable to do the same for themselves. However, he does possess enough rational sense to temper this inclination if necessary, aware of the difference between idealism and zealotry; for instance, his willingness to align with the Church and reform society from within, rather than letting it fall to the upheaval of a bloody and violent revolution.

HEADSTRONG AND STUBBORN — Tied to his unwavering idealism, every part of Dimitri is unyielding and unwilling to give up. This applies to both his positive and negative traits as a whole. Passionate, focused, and always striving to be better, he is the sort to set his mind on something and charge through all the obstacles in his way, rather than taking a subtle or artful approach.

LEADERSHIP AND CHARISMA — As royalty, Dimitri was groomed from a young age to one day become a strong and capable leader. He is constantly aware of propriety and how to properly present himself, a trait more prevalent as a teenager than an adult. He is familiar with the inner workings of politics between nobles, houses, and territories, though he does not enjoy politicking nor the classist Crest system that has overtaken Fódlan — an irony he is aware might paint him as naive, too, given that he is both royalty and possesses a Crest. However, though he would not describe himself as such, he is even accused by the enemy of possessing a silver tongue, and will rally forth motivation to fight for a cause when it's needed the most, banishing doubt from the minds of others. He inspires loyalty and hope within his army and his desperate homeland, who believe in both his sincerity and his lofty ideals to end a war and to improve the world.

INWARDLY EMOTIONAL AND GUILT-RIDDEN — Though he’s chosen to move on with his life, a large part of Dimitri is still defined by his past trauma and the atrocities he committed after he escaped imprisonment. He suffers from survivor’s guilt and PTSD-like symptoms, even if the game never directly labels it as such. His sense of self-worth is middling, and he often leans on others to assuage his uncertainties. His thoughts regarding himself are often self-deprecating, and much of his decisions revolve around his personal sense of atonement. He often puts others before himself not only for the sake of selflessness, but because he quietly believes that he does not deserve being treated well. He is sensitive, feels deeply, and has a tendency to ruminate.

ANGER AND INDIGNITY — He has made a promise to himself and others to be a better person, to be a good King, and to live for the sake of atoning for his past. But Dimitri has also accepted the uglier facets of himself — the part that is still angry at those who would take advantage of others, the part that is violent and beast-like and can kill with ease — as pieces of the whole, as well. Dimitri does not embrace this side of himself any longer, so much as he simply knows that it exists and chooses to temper it accordingly. But under the right circumstances, or even in the chaos of battle, it’s easier for him to give in to old habits of anger and brutality. It should be noted that this is now the exception to the rule rather than the norm, especially given his canon point, but the potential is still There and Lurking. There is a reason why his titles range anywhere from The Savior King (his route) to The King of Delusion (other routes); both are legitimate sides of his personality, with one overcoming the other only through circumstances and the support (or lack of) from those around him.

Where and how did your character enter the Hedge? Before the battle in Enbarr could properly begin, he watched as the city slowly transmogrified itself into the Hedge as his forces began to encroach. Soon, his allies and army were gone, leaving only himself alone in a strange new place.
